Offshore Fishing Report: With few back to back cold fronts, many fishermen off Palm Beach will now be shifting their sights towards Sailfish. As sailfish tournament season approaches, we couldn’t ask for any better weather. The bite has picked up this week with many boats having 5-10 bites. Kite fishing in our area is still going to be the go-to approach. Most fish that have been reported this week have been from the Lake Worth Pier to Singer Island in 100-250ft. Live goggle eyes are going to be your best option, with small blue runners not far behind. There have been quite a few kingfish also in the mix, so having a short trace of wire in front of your hook might be a good idea. For those trolling, there have also been a few nice wahoo caught this last week. The fish we’ve been hearing about have been right along the edge in 100-300 ft off of Singer Island. Split tail mullet with a black/red Ilander lure has been the hot ticket this week.
Inshore Fishing Report: The cold weather has brought plenty of Spanish Mackerel down to our area as well. If you’re able to make it up to Peck’s Lake by boat, you should have no problem catching as many as you want. Using light spin tackle is a blast. Gulfstream Flash Minnows, Got-cha Lures, or small spoons will get the most bites. They’ve also been showing up in good numbers around the Juno Pier and the south jetty of the Jupiter Inlet. There are still plenty of big bluefish along the beach in Juno early in the morning. Heavy spoons or topwater plugs are a must to get out past the rough shore break. Along with the bluefish, Spinner Sharks have started migrating down the beach. Big topwater lures will be your best bet to catch one of these acrobatic sharks.
