Offshore Report: The Dolphin bite has continued to pick up off of Palm Beach and Jupiter the last few weeks. This weeks’ Southeast winds should only help the dolphin bite get better for this weekend. We’ve gotten reports of plenty of nice fish being caught trolling as well as along the edge kite fishing. If you’re trolling this weekend, try heading out a little further offshore and look for weedlines in 500-1000ft. If kite fishing, set up in the same area as you would for kingfish and sailfish from 80-150ft. Most of the fish caught on live bait have been from the Dodge Wall to Lost Tree.
The Blackfin Tuna bite has been exceptional as well this week. Most fish are being caught off of the Juno Ledge by boats drifting or kite fishing live bait. They’re going to be out a little deeper than the kingfish that have congregated off Juno and Jupiter the last few weeks. Try setting up your drift in 150-250ft.
Inshore Report: With the temps heating up as Summer is right around the corner, Snook have started to show up at the Juno Pier as well as Palm Beach and Jupiter Inlets. Using a live Threadfin on the bottom will be your best bet at the Juno Pier. Live mullet or pinfish will be the best options at both inlets. There’s been plenty of silver mullet throughout the ICW lately. The snook bite has still been good at night around the Jupiter bridges as well. Large swimbaits and flair jigs will be your best bait option.
This is the last month of Snook season for the spring as it closes at midnight on 5/31.
