Offshore Report: As of right now, it looks as though this weekend will be a wash for offshore fishing. NOAA is calling for for 8-10ft seas or greater from Friday to Sunday. This is all do to Hurricane Humberto who passed us offshore last week. If you are able to get offshore, Dolphin fishing will be your best bet. Head offshore past the dirty water (We’ve had reports of dirty water out to 600ft this week). Trolling will be your best bet to cover the most ground. Look for weed patches or floating debris. There should be plenty out there from the hurricanes the past few weeks. Troll mono rigged ballyhoo or squid for best results.

Snapper have been the only other thing we’ve gotten reports for this week, but they have been few and far between. The ones we’ve gotten have been of Yellowtail snapper between 50-80ft from the Palm Beach Inlet to Lost tree. Most fish were caught on sardines or jigs tipped with squid on the bottom.

Inshore/Beach Report: The fall mullet run has kicked off and is in full swing. Huge pods of mullet have been seen moving South along the beach as well as inshore in the ICW. Snook, Jacks, Tarpon, and Spinner sharks can all be caught along the beach in the schools of mullet that should continue for the next month. Heavy topwater plugs will be a good option for surface action early in the morning and late evening. Heavy spoons or diamond jigs will also work well. You want to be using something heavy that you can cast out past the breaking swells.

Snook fishing has also been great in the ICW. Fishing around area bridges at night has been the most productive. Fishing an outgoing tide has been the best bite. With so many mullet around, you’re going to want to do something to differentiate your bait from the mullet schools. If fishing a live mullet, throat hook it or fish it with a lead to get it down below the school. Using a bright colored Flair Hawk Jig or Swimbait will also work well to get your bait seen. We have plenty of options of both in the shop, so come by and see us and we’ll get you set up!
