Offshore Fishing Report: Those who have braved the rough seas this past week were met with a pretty good Dolphin bite in the Juno Beach/Jupiter area. Most fish have been caught trolling dead bait and have been between 250-600ft of water. Mono rigged ballyhoo have been working best. Try using a skirt with a chugger head to increase your chance of a bite. A few sailfish showed up this week and should start to show up in even better numbers as Hurricane Michael moves past us this weekend. As of today, NOAA has the seas at 2ft or less through the weekend so more boats should be able to make it out. Kite fishing with goggle eyes has produced the best sailfish results as of late.
Inshore Fishing Report: For those not willing to head offshore, the Pier has been pretty productive the last few days. We’ve gotten reports of greater numbers of Pompano starting to show up, as well as Spanish Mackerel and Ladyfish. A pompano rig with sandfleas or fish bites is your best bet, but goofy jigs have also been working as well. For the Mackerel, try using a small spoon or Gulfstream Flash Minnow. Mullet are continuing to push through the intracoastal, with more and more showing up daily. Snook, Tarpon, and Jacks are mixed in with almost every pod of mullet you see. Using top water plugs around docks and seawalls continues to be the most productive. If you want to use bait, try netting or snagging mullet and fishing it below the schools. Fishing a mullet head on the bottom also produces some over slot Snook from time to time.
